I am writing this post from somewhere way up in the sky two hours or so out of Dubai on our way home from a months holiday In Europe.
My DH and I recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary, and this holiday was in aid of that milestone.
We flew into Venice where we enjoyed three days before a Mediterranean cruise.
First port of call was the medieval walled city if Dubrovnik where we walked the city walls and enjoyed a lunch in one if the street cafés.
Next stop was the Greek Island of Mykonos, we both agreed that we would like to revisit this island and spend more time exploring.
After Mykonos we sailed for one day and then arrived at the exotic port of Istanbul. As we sailed into harbour I could hear the calling to prayer. We visited the blue mosque, Aya Sofia and cistern. As well as the Grand bazaar, spice market and Taxim square. Our ship was docked here for two days.
After leaving Istanbul we enjoyed two days at sea before arriving at Salerno, gateway to the beautiful Italian riviera and Amalfi coastline. Here we took a tour to the Isle if Capri, Sorrento and Pompeii.
Next stop was Rome, first we visited the Vatican and imagine our surprise when we got to see the Pope ride very close to us in his pope mobile.
After touring the city highlights we enjoyed an underground tour of the Colosseum.
After Rome we visited the beautiful city of Florence, and if course the famous statue of David and the beautiful white marble Duomo cathedral.
Next it was in to ritzy St Tropez in the French Riviera.
Our final port of call was Barcelona where we stayed for two days to see the city sights.
After visiting Barcelona we caught a fast train to Paris where wen ended our journey with five days exploring this wonderful city. I enjoyed among other things a glass of champagne at the top of he Eiffel Tower, a visit tithe moulin rouge, a tour of the Louvre and a day in Versailles
And so ends my European adventure, I hope you have enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as I did.
