Our first cuddles - and fun at the Fringe

Last night Serg and I went to the hospital to have the first cuddles with Paige and Connor.

It was also my daughter Sherees birthday yesterday so after the hospital we met her and her partner Alex in town to take a look at some of the fun at the Garden of Unearthly delights at the Adelaide Fringe festival.  For those of you not familiar with the Fringe festival it is an annual event held every March.

The fringe then incorporates the WOM Adelaide music festival, and then we have the Clipsal V8 super race.
Locals refer to this time of year as MAD MARCH due to the increase in visitors to our state, road closures (as the Clipsal runs through the city streets), and street parties and Parades.  The Fringe generally comes to town straight after the Tour Down Under cycle race, which is also means road closure's and street parties, and lots of men in Lycra.

Here are a few pics of the garden and riding on the Ferris wheel

THE TWINS HAVE ARRIVED...............drum roll

I am extremely excited and proud to announce the safe arrival of Paige Dakota and Connor Jake.  Paige arrived 45 minutes before Connor at 10.30am this morning.

They were born naturally after a short 5 hour labour, 3 weeks early.  Here is a first pic of the precious angels.  We are yet to have a cuddle because they are still in the special care nursery but all good so far.  Mum (Jessica), is doing great.  They each weigh around 2.5 kilos, a nice healthy weight for twins.

Home today - so sewing room here I come

I have been to the dentist this morning to have a tooth pulled out.  Apparently I am a tooth grinder (in my sleep) and I have cracked a tooth and it cannot be saved.  So this morning I visited the dentist to have it removed.   (ouch).

In preparation for a day at home I visited Spotlight yesterday after seeing the lovely spotty fabric that Samelias mum featured on her blog.  I have 2 projects to make for my PIF recipients and this is perfect for the job, along with some osnaburg and a lovely bird house print ( with a few bits from from my stash).

So after catching up on a few emails, reading a few blogs its off to the sewing room.  I cannot speak, I cannot eat or even drink coffee so I have to entertain myself somehow.

Blog comments

I have been bad and I would like to say I am sorry.  I have not been replying to people that are kind enough to leave comments on my blog, it never occurred to me to do so.  However lately, I have been getting replies to comments I have been leaving on other peoples blogs and it dawned on me that it really is polite to thank you some one for taking the time to not only READ my blog but to also comment on it.

SO, from now on I sincerely promise to endeavour to reply to all comments left on this blog.  For those of you that are followers of the block swap group I will state however that I will not be able to reply to those comments, as most of them are comments on members posts not necessarily mine.

Little ducks top completed.

You may have seen my stack of fabric for the little ducks quilt, with a few completed blocks.

Well now I am pleased to say that I have finished putting together the top with borders.  As we don't know if the twins are boys or girls, (or one of each) I have put a few pink duck in the mix.

I also realised when I had sewn it all together that a few of the ducks are missing their little tails, never mind - not all ducks are the same are they?  So we have a different breed of duck in here to :)

I am now going to make a little mobile, with the fabric using a bird template but I will try and make them look more like ducks.  Tomorrow I will pin this up to begin the quilting process.

Leibster blog award

Thank you to Cathy and also to Teresa for awarding me this for my blog.  I dont want to be greedy but I was also awarded this by Cheryll in January but forgot to put the award on my side bar (it was in a post).
Its on the side bar now :)

I am humbled and honoured to be awarded this by three individuals that also have fabulous blogs that I love to read.  Thank you all so much.

I have just joined Cherylls "Lets exchange swap group" which is a fabulous idea to make a Hot Pad, for casserole dishes to save your bench tops.  If you think you might be interested to pop over to her blog and take a look.

My grandson the musician

I wanted to share this adorable photo of my Grand son (and my son Jarrod), playing on their new keyboard.  Leo loves all things musical and is getting to be such a cheeky little boy.

They have just got their power back on after 6 days without it as a result of the recent cyclone.  Imagine how hard it was this long with no power with a baby.  They were also without running water for 4 days.

The Herb garden - wall hanging

Several months ago, the lovely crafty Pugs held a bloggy give away and I was the lucky recipient of Homespun magazine.  I loved this magazine and have since taken up a monthly subscription.

One pattern took my eye for a Herb garden wall hanging quilt with simple stitchery.  I had just received a fat quarter pack of Moda Bliss which was perfect for the project.

As I have been working on quite a few projects it took awhile to finish this, even though its not large.
I did the stitchery whilst watching tv in the evenings and finally stitched the binding and hanging sleeve on tonight.

Finally - some time to sew

Hi everyone, I have just managed to catch up on the quilting swap site with reading posts from of you, I have not had a minute to myself all week and often get behind with this.

As for sewing, I was beginning to think my sewing room was lost to me, but today I have a blissful day planned of not leaving this room.   I have 3 swaps to make this month for my lovely ladies, one for the Christmas swap with the  Brigette in Canada , One with my swap group with Tarnyia and one with new member of group 2 Lynette as I am helping Alex out with a swap until her membership numbers grow.  If all goes to plan I will get these done today.  There is also a pile of ironing to do (groan), but perhaps I can do a pillow case or two (or maybe not).

I also still have to make something for Gina and MarieJ my 2 remaining PIF recipients  I have the pattern and fabric all ready to go, all I need is time.  Sshh, what I am making them is a surprise.  My first PIF recipient was Leona, and I managed to get Christmas Hoot to her in time for Christmas with some lovely SA chocckies.  (see earler post).

Then, If i have time left I can make some more ducks, I have made 14 so far and I need 20, these are quick and easy to construct.  The twins are due March 18th but we expect Jessica to go early so I need to get cracking on this one to.
